Pastor’s Message
Dear Fellow Missionaries,
The only real advice my retired-minister father ever gave me about being an ordained minister was, "A little bit of visiting makes up for a whole lot of bad preaching." I'll let you figure out what he meant by that! But, when I would be frustrated and ready to quit I would call him late at night or early in the morning and say, "How do you do it?!" He would let me "vent" and then say, "You just keep at it, buddy." There is something different about this life of faith. On this side of Heaven, we don't quite get "there" but we keep on striving.
Our scripture from Mark 1:21-28 helps us understand why we can keep at it. Jesus teaches the same old story in this scripture, but "as one who had authority" and everything is changed. It really isn't rocket science: we are a people of the same old story of "Jesus and His love" as the hymnwriter says. We can't get confused by the way the message comes, we just need to "keep at it" when it comes to passing along the message.
Thank you all for being so faithful to keep at your faith. You are a blessing to this community! I look forward to being in mission and ministry with you!

If you would like a FREE audio tape or DVD of our service, simply sign up on the "Every Member in Ministry" table at the back of the church (please put your name and the type of recording you want - audio or video/DVD).Recordings can be picked up Monday afternoons from the box on the Pastor's Office Door.

Mission: Possible Event For Mother's Day Weekend
Please mark the date: SATURDAY, MAY 12, 2012. This is the date of our Mission: Possible event here at Central! In an effort to better care for our outreach and missions, we have set a goal of raising
$25,000 through this one-day event! We need crafters who are willing to make things to sell at a Bazaar that day. Our men will be providing some food, and the BIG EVENT will be an Auction for Missions. ALL money raised will go directly to the missions of our church!
We will need every single person at Central involved in this event. We will need folks to donate "big ticket" items for auction (examples: Weekend at a Condo in Florida or Chatuge; Guided Fly Fishing Trip; Panthers Tickets; be creative!!!!!)
I am asking the Ministry Team and anyone who is interested to meet with me on Sunday, January 8, at 4 p.m. in the Fellowship Hall to begin planning this event! We do believe that mission is possible through Central UMC!!
